Powerball Hits $1 Billion Ahead of Saturday’s Drawing

Christmas could potentially come early this year for Kansas Lottery players as the jackpot for the Saturday, December 13 Powerball drawing has hit an incredible $1 billion!

Tonight’s jackpot ranks as the seventh largest in Powerball history and the game’s second-biggest prize this year, behind only the $1.787 billion jackpot won on September 6, 2025 in Missouri and Texas.

If a player wins tonight’s jackpot, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize estimated at $1 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $457.7 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5-percent each year.

Kansas recently had multiple big Powerball winners, as two players matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000 on Wednesday night. Both players had added the Power Play multiplier, which tripled each of their wins to $150,000!

Powerball tickets start at just $2, with the option to add the Power Play Multiplier and/or add Double Play to your ticket for an additional $1 each. Powerplay can multiply a non-jackpot win by up to 10X. Cutoff for entry is 8:59 p.m. on draw days.

Kansas Powerball tickets now have an option for an additional draw. The Double Play is a new Powerball feature that only 27 states currently offer that gives players another chance to match their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.
