Kansas City Man Claims $10,000 Mega Million Prize!

Dan Kubicki of Kansas City, Kansas is a weekly Lottery player and considers himself a bit of “jackpot chaser”. That is why he mostly plays games like Mega Millions. So when the jackpot was not hit on Friday, July 5, Dan did not bother to check his tickets until the following Monday, only to find that he matched four numbers and the Mega Ball to win $10,000!

The winning numbers in the Friday, July 5 Mega Millions drawing were 6 – 15 – 32 – 54 – 67 Mega Ball 4.

“I have a routine where I typically buy my tickets once or twice a week, and then just check them all at the same time when the week is over,” Said Kubicki. “When I had the clerk scan my tickets on Monday, they handed me one back with a claim form!”

Kubicki had no idea what prize he had won, so he took the winning ticket back to his truck and pulled up the numbers from the Kansas Lottery website. “I started counting the numbers I matched, and I realized it was more than just a couple bucks!”

By the time he had finished counting, Kubicki matched four numbers and the Mega Ball to win $10,000! He says it took him a few moments to really sink in that he had won such a large prize. “The most I’d ever won before this was $100,” Kubicki said.

Kubicki says he plans to use the winnings to chip away at some debt, and to take a couple trips to see family. “I have children that live in different states, so it’s hard to find the time and funds to see them as often as I’d like. This will make it a lot easier to plan those trips,” Kubicki added.

The winning ticket was sold at QuikTrip 239R at 555 North 78th Street in Kansas City. Mega Millions draws on Tuesdays and Fridays, with jackpots starting at $20 million and tickets beginning at $2 per play. The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday, July 19 for an estimated $251 million.

Players are invited to submit all their winning and non-winning tickets in the Kansas Lottery PlayOn® Players Loyalty program to earn points for drawing entries and a chance to win cash and other prizes!  PlayOn® is a registered trademark of Pollard Banknote Limited used under license.
